September follow-up survey in Zanemvula
NMBM Solar Water Heater Pilot Project Social Contribution & Change / Report on early outcome findings
The first follow-up survey for the solar water heater pilot project in Zanemvula was conducted in the last two weeks of September.
We worked in a team of five comprising three enumerators, one survey management-assistant/enumerator and myself, the survey manager. We had two really produc tive weeks as the team worked together smoothly and the community welcomed us.
The Electricity and Energy Directorates project manager, Mr Humphrey Mthimkulu, identified 180 houses. 45 houses were allocated to each enumerator. The team carried out the survey during the days and on the weekend.
It was surprising to see just how many ways there were which people’s lives had been changed by the new technology on their roof.
All of this data was captured in the questionnaires. The data will be analysed and then used to inform the way in which the project is managed both new and in the future.
The follow-up surveys will assist the Electricity and Energy Directorate (EE) to determine current shortcomings, failures and successes of the project and improve the way forward.
