1. Pay-by-Phone

This is available 24 hours a day for account payments and the purchase of pre-paid electricity (keypad meters only). 
This is a secure method protected by a personal identification number, known to the customer only.
You have to register for this facility. To do this, kindly dial (041) 506 - 5555 to obtain the necessary application form, or collect it from any municipal paypoint.

2. Cash / Cheque or postal order

Make cash or cheque payments at any municipal pay-point, any branch of Standard Bank or any post office.
Send a cheque or postal order directly to the City Treasurer:  PO Box 834, Port Elizabeth 6000; or PO Box 31, Uitenhage 6230; or PO Box 42, Despatch 6220.
Post-dated cheques tendered through the post or at the counter at municipal paypoints are accepted, but receipted only on the date of the tendered cheque.
M65 Credit Transfer

3. Automatic Teller Machine (ATM)

Link your municipal account number to your ATM card account number at your bank branch for easy payment at your convenience from any ATM, nationwide. You have to apply to your bank for this facility.

4. Internet

From any personal computer (PC) with Internet access (home or office), link your municipal account number to your bank account details at your bank branch and pay your municipal account whenever it suits you, wherever you are.

5. Stop order

Have you considered this option?
Your employer deducts a fixed determined amount for the payment of your municipal account from your salary and pays it over to the Municipality, this option is a very convenient way to pay your bill. No need for cheques. No standing in queues. No late payment.

6. Debit order

This payment option allows the Municipality to debit your bank account with the required payment in respect of each relevant month (you specify the maximum). The payment is processed on the due date and you therefore earn maximum interest on your money.
This option is by far the most convenient way to pay your bill. No need for cheques. No standing in queues. No late payment. No interest!
Complete the debit order application form and submit it at least one month before the next due date for payment.

Costs associated with payments

Each method has costs associated with the transaction, in most cases from the banking system.
Please be aware that dishonoured payment carries substantial costs and penalties, such as the bank charge to yourself (as high as R95,00) and the Municipality (R18,47), possible additional deposits (R100,00), interest on late payment, and possible disconnection/reconnection fees (R150). Please ensure that you have enough money in your account to support payment via the method of your choice.

The Fresh Produce Market is situated at the corner of Markman and Ranger Streets, Markman Industria. A wide range of fresh produce is offered for sale to wholesalers, retailers and the smaller buyer, through five market agents. Cold storage and ripening facilities are available.
