On April 27 to celebrate National Freedom Day, Mayor Wayile spent the day at the Motherwell Freedom Run Road Race. The event itself was a success, with a focus on the youth.
“This is important as young people are made vulnerable by the many social challenges facing them, and through events of this nature we are able to build their self esteem and racial harmony. We are also contributing toward the social and economic upliftment of Motherwell. This is how we are nurturing ambassadors of Nelson Mandela Bay,” said Mayor Wayile.
The event was adopted by Mayor Wayile as one of his flagship events, and he also donated R50 000 towards the race next year.
“We will now go back to the drawing board as the planning committee and assess how we can still improve the event going ahead,” said Mayor Wayile.
