TASK Grade 11 (R299 628 – R416 592 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)


Qualifications and experience required:


  • Degree or Diploma in General Nursing / Community Nursing Science / Midwifery / Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Current registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council essential.
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence.

·        Computer Literacy with proficiency in MS Office Applications.

  • Two to three years’ experience in the field of Occupational Health Nursing.


The successful candidate will be required to utilise his/her private vehicle in the execution of official duties, for which a casual (ad hoc) locomotion allowance will be paid.

Key attributes and competencies:


  • An in-depth understanding and knowledge of legislative requirements, acceptable practices and procedures.
  • Sound communication skills with the ability to communicate in at least two official local languages.
  • Competency Course / Certificate in Audiometry, Spirometry, Dispensing Licence.


Job purpose:


  • Rendering an occupational health nursing service.
  • Biological monitoring of employees exposed to health risks in the workplace.
  • Investigating occupational diseases.
  • Assisting the Occupational Medical Practitioner with fitness-for-duty assessment of employees.
  • Primary Health Care Services.
  • Medical surveillance of workers’ health in relation to work.
  • HIV and AIDS Management.
  • Treating injury-on-duty cases.
  • Occasionally investigating accidents/incidents in conjunction with Occupational Safety Division and Occupational Medical Practitioner.
  • Assisting the Occupational Medical Practitioner in determining occupational risk exposure profiles.
  • Providing a health education and training service to select target groups.
  • Controlling medication stock.




As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
