VACANCY

CORPORATE SERVICES DIRECTORATE

                                                                         DEPUTY DIRECTOR: SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT EQUITY

POSITION CODE: 200099

TASK Grade 16 (Salary R617 340 – R858 264 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

 

Qualifications and experience required:                                                                                                                        

  • Appropriate level of Tertiary Qualification, preferably B Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant study discipline.
  • Five to seven years’ relevant experience at management level.
  • A valid Code EC Drivers’ License.
  • Computer literacy in Office applications.

 Key attributes and competencies: 

  • Good communication, report-writing, presentation and interpersonal skills, as the appointee will deal with employees from all levels of the organisation, Councilors and officials from outside organisations.
  • Ability to deal with staff related issues (e.g. maintaining discipline and resolving grievances/conflict).
  • Meeting predetermined deadlines.
  • Organising, planning and motivating skills.

 Job purpose: 

·         Developing strategic skills development and employment equity programmes aligned to the NMBM Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

·         Managing  the skills grant levy system to increase investment in skills development.

·         Planning, organising, scheduling, monitoring and leading the work of subordinates to ensure operational efficiency.

·         Ensuring that communication strategies are in place to create awareness of training and equity related matters.

·         Managing the analysis of all employment policies, practices and procedures and the working environment to identify equity barriers.

·         Managing the implementation of all skills development and employment equity policies and procedures.

·         Managing the submission of the Employment Equity Plan and the Workplace Skills Plan, as well as progress reports in this regard.

·         Managing the learnership and experiential learning programmes to ensure that graduates improve their skills base.

·         Liaising with external training providers to ensure that diverse training needs are met.

   

 As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, a medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
