SPORTS, RECREATION, ARTS AND CULTURE DIRECTORATE

DEPUTY DIRECTOR: SPORTS FACILITIES

(SPORTS AND RECREATION)

POSITION CODE: 190084

TASK Grade 15 (R 514 896 – R 715 884 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

·        Three-year National Diploma or/and B Degree in Sports Management and/or Public Administration/Management and/or NQF5 level equivalent.

·        Computer Literacy – Office Applications.

·        Valid code EB Driver’s Licence.

·        Four to five years’ relevant experience in the field of Sport Management/Local Government.

·        Demonstrated, proven skills in report writing.

·        Strong planning and strategic thinking skills.

·        Oral and written communication skills.

·        Budgeting and financial control.

·        Ability to consult and liaise with various organisations/stakeholders regarding sports facilities availability and policies.

·        A good team player.

·        Good negotiation, analysis, co-ordination and interpersonal skills.

·        Strong document administration and records management skills.

·        Ability to monitor current training interventions, pro-actively communicate with subordinates and report on workplace-impact post training.

·        Enthusiasm, punctuality and demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with all staff.

·        Maturity in decision making and forging work relationships.

·        Highly motivated, with a positive attitude and demonstrative approach to practical problem solving and the ability to accept responsibility and accountability for decisions and actions.

Job purpose:

·        Managing key administrative requirements regarding Sports Facilities through the implementation of policies, procedures, systems and controls guiding critical maintenance interventions, applications and outcomes.

·        Providing advice and support with respect to sport functional area (supervising facility bookings requirements) and controlling operational dimensions and outcomes, ensuring that departmental priorities are adequately addressed and attended to and that key functional areas are aligned towards sustaining and improving the efficiencies of support services processes.

 

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
