WEATHER WARNING FOR RESIDENTS
The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive weather conditions.
Outlook: Tuesday – Wednesday, 5–6 May 2026
Residents should prepare for:
* Cold to cool temperatures with cloudy conditions
* Widespread rain across both the Eastern Cape and Western Cape
* Isolated to scattered thundershowers, particularly over central and eastern regions
What this means for you:
* Localised flooding of roads and low-lying areas is possible
* Travel disruptions and reduced visibility may occur
* Increased risk of power interruptions due to storms
* Outdoor activities may be affected
Residents are urged to:
* Drive with caution and avoid flooded roads
* Secure loose outdoor items
* Stay informed through official weather updates
* Take extra care, especially in vulnerable or low-lying areas

Orange Level 6 Warning For Disruptive Rains In Nelson Mandela Bay
The NMBM Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has received the Inclement Weather Warning from the South African Weather Service (SAWS).The Orange Level 6 Disruptive Rain Warning for 05 May at 10h00 until 07 May 2026 at 23h59 for your attention and consideration.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions and stay alert all the time.They are also advised to be awesome of flooded areas when driving,and try to avoid them,if possible, especially areas that are prone to flooding.Don’t make fires indoors without proper ventilation and fires must be kept away from high risk buildings.

Notice is hereby given that the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has, in terms of Section 5 of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act, reviewed its Property Rates Policy. On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, the Council of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality noted the reviewed Property Rates Policy for the 2026/27 financial year.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality invites communities, stakeholders and all interested parties to comment on the said document, which is available for inspection in all municipal libraries, Customer Care Centres, as well as at the IDP Office, ground floor, Noninzi Luzipho Building, cnr John Kani Road (previously known as Whites Road) and Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth, or click here to view the draft policy document online.
Comments on the reviewed Property Rates Policy for the 2026/2027 financial year may be hand delivered to the IDP office, which is situated in the Noninzi Luzipho Building, cnr of John Kani Road (Previously known as Whites Road) and Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth or emailed to idpoffice@mandelametro.gov.za.
All comments must be submitted by no later than Friday, 8 May 2026.
