The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that at 5th Avenue Newton Park, a 6kV circuit breaker has tripped, resulting in a power outage affecting parts of Newton Park and surrounding areas.
Operators are currently on site attending to the fault and conducting the necessary investigations and repairs.
AFFECTED AREAS:
* Sections of Newton Park
* Surrounding areas

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE – MOTHERWELL

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that a section of the Motherwell North 22kV line is currently out of commission from pole structure MWN 90/1 to MWN 90/21. This outage is due to the replacement of a faulty transformer located at pole MWN 90/6/5.
Technical teams are currently on site attending to the fault and carrying out the necessary repairs.

WATER TRUCK LOCATIONS

Residents are advised that water trucks are stationed at the following points:
* Sakuba Str, Zwide
* ?Venus Str, Helenvale
* ?BZP Str, Zwide
* ?Missionvale Clinic
* ?Buffelsfontein Rd
* ?Algoa Park Spar
Tankers are continually moving within these areas, and might leave to refill but will return to these areas.
Tankers will be moved and prioritised as needed.
POWER OUTAGE - MOTHERWELL
Friday, 15 May 2026
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to update residents that a 22kV circuit breaker trip was detected at Motherwell Main, affecting electricity supply to Shukushukuma, NU13, Steve Tshwete, the Motherwell Reservoir and surrounding areas.
Technical teams attended to the fault; however, ongoing joint failures on pole MWT 1#10 have delayed restoration efforts. Due to the complexity of the fault and safety considerations, repair work was suspended for the evening and will continue in the morning.
Areas currently affected:
* Steve Tshwete
* ?Shukushukuma
* ?NU13
* ?NU30
Municipal teams remain on site and further updates will be communicated as information becomes available. At this stage, there is no estimated restoration time available.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality informs residents that low voltage (LV) overhead lines have fallen in several areas due to severe weather, resulting in power outages.
Affected areas include, but are not limited to:
- Uitenhage
- Soweto on Sea
- Missionvale
- Motherwell
- Bluewater Bay
Technical teams are on site securing the area and preparing restoration plans.
We urge the community to immediately report fallen LV lines and any related vandalism to the numbers below.

High winds have caused damage to overhead electricity lines supplying various water pump stations in the Kariega and Despatch areas.
The Fairbridge, Rosedale and Kamesh reservoirs, as well as the Despatch tower are without water supply, and the following areas may experience water disruptions:

Vanes Estate
Higher lying parts of Van Riebeeck Hoogte, Fairbridge Heights and Strelitzia Park
