ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, TOURISM AND AGRICULTURE DIRECTORATE

 DEPUTY DIRECTOR: SUPPORT & SECTOR DESK

(SECTOR DEVELOPMENT)

POSITION CODE: 200112

TASK GRADE 16 (R655 920 – R911 904 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

 

Qualifications and experience required: 

  • A relevant degree, preferably in Economics or Business Management.
  • Five to seven years’ relevant experience.  

Key attributes and competencies: 

·         Effective communication skills.

·         Highly performance-driven.

·         Strategic management and forward planning to achieve short and long term objectives of section.

  • Analytical and technical skills in assessing, understanding and delivering business requirements.
  • Excellent report-writing, monitoring and evaluation skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable municipal policies, as well as any other relevant legislation. 

Job purpose: 

Manages and directs the key performance areas and outcomes of the branch through economic development within the Tourism, SMME’s, Automotive and Community Sectors in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality, managing performance of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and other relevant tourism bodies, developing/ maintaining/ promoting a network of liaison with national and provincial governments, developing/ managing the unit’s operating budget ensuring integration of plans with the objective of alleviating poverty by creating jobs in the Metro. 

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency,
which will include pre-employment screening, a medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
