Which eccentric Dutch artist is known for chopping off part of his ear?
Answer: Vincent van Gogh
Troubled by anxiety throughout his life, the magnificent Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh apparently cut off his ear with a razor in 1888, following an argument with his good friend, the French painter Paul Gaugin. Recent evidence suggests Gaugin, known to be a very good fencer, was in fact responsible for the slice, although perhaps we’ll never really know exactly what happened.
