The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's Executive Mayor, Councillor Retief Odendaal, has called on all residents and businesses to work hand in hand with the municipality to rejuvenate service delivery.

The Executive Mayor said this at the launch of a civic action campaign that seeks to rally the residents of Nelson Mandela Bay behind the city's vision of "getting the city working again.

Mayor Odendaal together with  his Mayoral Committee, today led residents on a clean-up campaign in the Gqeberha CBD, South End and surrounding areas.

The #GetNMBWorkingAgain campaign aims to inspire civic pride amongst the residents of Nelson Mandela Bay.

"The City’s service delivery is low, and we are working around the clock to improve our administration so that it can deliver efficient services,"said Mayor Odendaal.

"We understand that whatever efforts we can make, we cannot do it alone without the support of our residents, businesses and stakeholders," he said.

As part of this campaign, once a month the city will identify a service delivery activity that residents, businesses and can partake on.

The activity will be any service delivery challenge, like cleaning of illegal dumping sites, putting on road markings, fixing of potholes, identification, and fixing of water leaks.

The Executive Mayor will announce the service delivery activity on all community radio stations and municipal social media platforms.
