WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION NOTICE – KWANOBUHLE RESERVIOR 3 ZONE
24 April 2026
Residents in the KwaNobuhle Reservoir 3 zone are currently experiencing water disruptions due to a mechanical fault. This occurred after routine cleaning of the Southern Side strainer, where a valve extension came off and could not be reopened.
What’s being done?
Repair work will begin this morning as soon as possible. Our teams are prioritising this to restore water supply as quickly as possible.
Water Relief Measures
Water tankers were dispatched yesterday and will be dispatched again this morning. They will continue to roam affected areas to assist residents in the meantime.

Notice is hereby given that the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has, in terms of Section 5 of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act, reviewed its Property Rates Policy. On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, the Council of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality noted the reviewed Property Rates Policy for the 2026/27 financial year.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality invites communities, stakeholders and all interested parties to comment on the said document, which is available for inspection in all municipal libraries, Customer Care Centres, as well as at the IDP Office, ground floor, Noninzi Luzipho Building, cnr John Kani Road (previously known as Whites Road) and Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth, or click here to view the draft policy document online.
Comments on the reviewed Property Rates Policy for the 2026/2027 financial year may be hand delivered to the IDP office, which is situated in the Noninzi Luzipho Building, cnr of John Kani Road (Previously known as Whites Road) and Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth or emailed to idpoffice@mandelametro.gov.za.
All comments must be submitted by no later than Friday, 8 May 2026.

WATER DISRUPTION - KWANOBUHLE

The NMBM wishes to advise residents that teams have effectively affected repairs on a burst experienced on the pipeline that flows from Loerie Dam.
This affects residents in Kwanobuhle 3.
Water trucks will be despatched to alleviate water outages to affected residents
However we can confirm that no disruptions are predicted in terms of water supply for the Ironman
POWER OUTAGE – CADLES SUBSTATION

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a power outage has occurred at the Cadles Substation (Transformer T2) following the tripping of the 11kV circuit breaker.
Affected Areas:
* Cadles and surrounding areas
* Sidwell
* Ferguson
Restoration Update:
Technical teams are currently attending to the fault. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for the restoration of power at this stage.

POWER OUTAGE – GOVAN MBEKI SUBSTATION

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a power outage has occurred at the Govan Mbeki Substation. The outage is due to a faulty transformer at pole structure GMB3#30, which has been isolated for repairs.
Affected Area:
* Zinyoka and surrounding areas
Restoration Update:
Technical teams are currently attending to the fault. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for the restoration of power at this stage.
