Nelson Mandela Bay film, boxing and entertainment enthusiasts, brace yourselves for an unforgettable day and evening of empowerment and entertainment at the iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 6 June 2026.

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, in partnership with the Mandela Bay Development Agency, and working alongside the boxing fraternity and film industry, will host the relaunch of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Film Office and an international boxing tournament on the same day and at the same venue.

The day, a first of its kind in South Africa, will culminate in the relaunch of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Film Office, where film stakeholders will gather for a morning session of empowerment workshops, knowledge sharing and networking. Part of the proceedings for the relaunch of the Film Office will include the screening of a number of inspiring Nelson Mandela Bay-produced films, showcasing the abundance of local talent.

As the day progresses into the late afternoon, an exciting boxing tournament organised by the female-led Zantsi Boxing Promotions will commence and continue into the evening. The tournament will feature two international bouts and one South African title defence bout.

In between the activities of this eventful day, cultural entertainment, live performances, food stalls and fun activities for the whole family will be on offer. The Film Office relaunch programme will commence at 09h00.

Speaking about this exciting weekend, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Councillor Babalwa Lobishe, said she is looking forward to a memorable weekend at the iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

"As the City, through our entities, facilities and partners, we continue to invest in programmes that harness our talent and build our future stars, both in sport and in the arts industry. It always makes sense for us to support initiatives of this nature. We are also excited about the relaunch of our Film Office, which has been inactive for some time," said Executive Mayor Lobishe.

All film industry stakeholders, aspiring actors and scriptwriters are welcome to attend the relaunch of the Film Office. For the boxing tournament, entry tickets are priced at R100 per adult and R50 for children.
