ARTISAN: PLUMBER (SEVEN POSITIONS)

(WATER DISTRIBUTION SOUTH AND WATER INSTALLATION WORKSHOP)

TASK Grade 9 (R364 896 – R507 300 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Trade test certificate as an Artisan.
  • A valid Code C1 driver’s licence with Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • One to two years’ relevant experience.

Attributes and competencies attached to the position: 

  • Must be physically fit and able-bodied. 

The physical attributes associated with this post necessitates that the incumbent is physically fit and able-bodied to perform the relevant functions, and as such, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit themselves to the Municipal Medical Doctor to be medically examined as part of the selection process.

Special conditions attached to the position:

  • Required to work in all weather conditions.
  • Required to be on standby.
  • Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime.

Job purpose:

Co-ordinating and controlling the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialised tasks/activities associated with the installation, maintenance and repair to water reticulation mains, municipal plumbing and meters, including monitoring and correcting the productivity and performance output of support personnel, and attending to routine general administrative duties. Recording requirements to ensure downtime and disruptions is minimised, contributing positively toward sustaining acceptable service delivery standards.

PRINTING MANAGER

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Relevant three-year tertiary qualification (preferably an appropriate B degree).
  • Computer literacy – Office applications.
  • Three years’ supervisory experience, preferably in a printing field.
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence.

Key attributes and competencies:

  • The ability to communicate complex and technical information effectively and responsibly.
  • Supervisory and report-writing skills.
  • Sound knowledge of financial and operational controls.
  • Broad knowledge of the procurement processes.
  • The ability to direct and control the outcomes associated with utilisation, productivity and performance of personnel within the printing section.

Job purpose:

Managing the key performance areas and result indicators associated with the provision of the Municipality’s printing requirements, including the printing of agendas, reports, circulars, invoice books, colour work, water and lights statements through the valuable data network, in accordance with laid down policies and procedures, reviewing and participating in the planning of short- to long-term operational goals, aligning printing systems to facilitate effective printing service.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (preferably a B-degree in Business Management, Economics or related field).
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Five to eight years’ relevant experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing environment, logistics, renewable energy industries as well as the auto sector will be an added advantage.
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence.

Key attributes and competencies:

  • The candidate must have the ability to plan and organise work tasks using goal setting, objectives, targets, create work schedule and work plan with associated resources and budgets.
  • Effective stakeholder management and the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with people within and outside the Municipality such as understanding social dynamics and management thereof.

Job purpose:

This position is responsible for establishing and administering a program that focuses on environmental, economic and social sustainability. The Assistant Director will work with internal and external contacts to develop policies, programs and oversee projects that benefit the long-term industrialisation of the Nelson Mandela Bay economy. The incumbent will be responsible for industry support and promoting investments within the manufacturing and renewable energy industry. This may include presenting opportunities in a wide range of manufacturing and renewable energy projects such as assembling, processing, wind farm development, small scale hydro, biomass, solar and tidal. Experience in the investment promotion environment including an involvement in development issues covering business cases, etc. is desirable.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (preferably a B-degree in Business Management, Economics or related field).
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Minimum of five to eight years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience in the management of staff along with a significant budget in a regulated environment, preferably in pursuing the promotion of tourism, trade and investment, is essential and a thorough knowledge of economic development in various sectors.
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence.

Key attributes and competencies:

  • Knowledge and experience in sector development and profiling (i.e. profiling and development of key sectors such as agribusiness, manufacturing, tourism, logistics, etc.).
  • Strategic management capabilities in order to provide leadership, develop strategies, policies and programs geared towards economic development and investment facilitation (i.e. retention and attraction), and the candidate must have the ability to keep abreast of compliance and governance regulations.
  • Trade and investment facilitation capabilities, and it is required that the candidate must be able to facilitate for investments from both national and international investors (promote foreign direct investment into NMBM) and be able to initiate local conferences/seminars and exhibitions.
  • Stakeholder management capabilities, and it is required that the candidate must be able to map out key stakeholders and role-players in order to develop and integrate partnership agreements with key stakeholders and other national investment agencies.
  • Program and project management capabilities, and it is required that the candidate must be able to conceptualise, plan, prepare, implement, monitor and report on programs and projects. The candidate must be able to align and influence Municipal priorities and projects to support the implementation of strategies.
  • Management, communication, interpersonal and people management skills, and it is required that the candidate must be able to manage resources, monitor, evaluate budget spending and impacts and to take corrective measures where needed and be able to manage a dynamic team for high performance.

Job purpose:

Managing the key performance areas and outcomes of the Trade and Investment branch of the Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture Business associated with investment promotion of Nelson Mandela Bay as a world-class, well-diversified investment destination and trade opportunities through a series of targeted events such as local and international trade exhibitions, in-store promotions, investment seminars and conference, media partnerships forged with both local and international media as well as a network of partners such as industry associations, business chambers, bi-national chambers, export councils including a wide network of SA embassies abroad and foreign embassies in South Africa, and performing public relations and administrative functions.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • A three-year tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Two to five years’ relevant experience.
  • Computer literacy.

  • Post-graduate qualification in Organisational Development is an added advantage.
  • It would be an added advantage for the incumbent to possess his/her own vehicle for which a locomotion allowance will be paid as per the relevant policy.
