ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY DIRECTORATE

Qualifications and experience required:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in advanced AutoCAD or advanced ArcView/ArcGIS course.
- No experience required.
Key attributes and competencies attached to this post:
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication. Communicates effectively with colleagues and clients; and be able to communicate design information in a clear and concise manner.
- Communicates effectively; and acknowledges contributions of others.
- Ability to use the basic features of a range of office machines including a photocopier, scanner, fax and telephone; and good knowledge of computer-aided design software for the creation of 2D and 3D modelling.
Summary of duties:
- Draughting plans for the construction of gantries and towers within the substation switchyard.
- Draughting plans for the construction and arrangement of streetlights and overhead poles in and around the substation.
- Draughting plans for concrete bases for transformers and switchgear according to the height indicated by the Engineer.
- Draughting proposed plans received from the Project Engineers and generating printouts for the developer concerned.
- Plotting electrical reticulations, e.g. underground and overhead power lines and cable routes.
- Basic programming within the GIS, e.g. developing and executing script routines within the GIS environment.
Job purpose
Providing an electrical drawing/spatial information and support service to all users within the Electricity and Energy Business Unit to facilitate informed decision-making and to enable users to achieve their objectives and maintain statistics of all projects undertaken for management purposes.

Qualifications and experience required:
- A National Diploma in Environmental Health.
- Registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner with the Health Professional Council of South Africa.
- A valid Code B driver’s licence.
- Two years’ relevant work experience.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
- Good interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills.
- Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
Special conditions associated with the position:
- Must be physically fit and able-bodied.
As part of the selection process, the recommended candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination at the Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety Division.

Performing activities associated with increasing public awareness and understanding of environmental and development issues, such as individual rights and responsibilities, through providing information for the purpose of enhancing decision-making and to assist with the planning of sustainable development through conducting appropriate educational courses, seminars, workshops and presentations based on applicable environmental and conservation legislation.

Appropriate level of primary education/ABET Level.

Physically fit and able-bodied.
The physical attributes associated with this post necessitates that the incumbent is physically fit and able-bodied to perform the relevant functions, and as such, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit themselves to the Municipal Medical Doctor to be medically examined as part of the selection process.
Job purpose:
Performing specific mechanical activities supporting the Engineering Artisan during the maintenance and repair of plant and vehicles, defective components, loosening and fastening bolts, flushing and cleaning engines, attending to and/or holding parts, clamps and tension springs in place during the replacement of brake linings, hoses, gaskets and covers and conducting audio-visual inspections and reporting on the operating functionality of specific devices.
