Job purpose:

Qualification and experience required:
- A relevant three-year tertiary qualification, preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB advantageous).
- Preference will be given to applicants who have been admitted as attorney or an advocate who is a member of the bar.

- Five to eight years’ relevant legal experience required at managerial level.

Summary of duties:
- Researching, interpreting and rendering of legal opinions included in statutory/Council legislation and national policy framework guidelines.
- Advising/informing the organisation on legal non-compliance outcomes with a view to supporting arguments for positive change.
- Analysing the adequacy of current legal approaches, submits reports supporting specific provisions associated with Legal Services interventions.
- Providing advice/opinions to the Executive on the legal process, through the analysis and evaluation of attitudes and needs of the municipality.
Job purpose:
Coordinating and controlling the key performance areas of the Legal Services: Governance and Corporate Affairs functionality through the provision of minimising legal risk to the municipality, rendering legal support to political structures and management, liaising with outside attorneys/counsel and providing advice and guidance on the development of effective, professional and sustainable legal approaches and conducting research on case studies and legal precedents.
