Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Babalwa Lobishe, has expressed shock, outrage and deep sorrow at the gruesome discovery of two teenagers who were found dead and burnt in KwaNobuhle.
"This is a heartbreaking and senseless act of violence that has no place in our communities. We cannot and will not accept that our children are hunted, harmed and robbed of their futures in such a barbaric manner,” said Executive Mayor Lobishe.
The Executive Mayor strongly condemns the incident and extends her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, friends and the entire KwaNobuhle community who have been shaken by this tragedy.
"As a Metro, we are calling on all law enforcement authorities, including the SAPS and specialised crime intelligence units, to leave no stone unturned. The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be hunted down, arrested and brought to justice with the urgency and seriousness this case deserves,” she added.
The Municipality further calls on community members who may have any information that could assist the investigation to come forward and work closely with law enforcement agencies. Gender based violence, femicide and criminality must never be met with silence or inaction.
"We must unite as a society to protect our children and reclaim our communities from fear and criminal terror. KwaNobuhle, and every other part of Nelson Mandela Bay, deserves to be a place where young people can live, dream, and thrive, not where they are brutally murdered,” said Mayor Lobishe.
The Municipality will continue working with relevant departments to ensure that the families of the victims receive the necessary psychosocial support during this difficult time.
