POWER OUTAGE UPDATE – ARLINGTON / DRIFTSANDS

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to inform residents of an unplanned power outage affecting Arlington, Driftsands, Lovemore Park, Schoenmakerskop and surrounding areas.
An 11kV circuit breaker (CB) at Arlington/ADS 0 has tripped, resulting in an interruption to the electricity supply.
AFFECTED AREAS:
* ADS – Arlington/Driftsands
* DLP – Driftsands/Lovemore Park
* DSK – Driftsands/Schoenmakerskop
* Surrounding areas
Technical teams are attending to the fault. There is currently no estimated time for the restoration of supply. Further information will be communicated as it becomes available.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE – ZONE 2 SUBSTATION

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to inform residents of an unplanned power outage affecting areas supplied by Zone 2 Substation 2 and Zone 2 Substation 4.
The Municipality has received reports of a loss of electricity supply in the affected areas. Vandalism is suspected at Zone 2 Substation 4 and technical teams will investigate the cause of the outage.

WATER UPDATE
03 September 2026
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality can confirm that the water system remains stable.
All reservoirs currently have water, while teams are continuing to replenish some critical reservoirs, including Rosedale and McNaughton, to strengthen system resilience.
Communities continue to receive water. However, residents are urged to use water sparingly and responsibly at all times, particularly as the metro remains mindful of the prevailing El Niño conditions and the potential impact on water availability.
Every drop counts. Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary water use and continue reporting leaks and water-related faults through the appropriate municipal channels.
POWER OUTAGE NOTICE – SWARTKOPS / MATOMELA

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to inform residents of a power outage affecting parts of the metro.
A trip has been detected on the Matomela and Transformer T1 66kV circuit breakers at the Swartkops Substation. A report has also been received of a blown Swartkops Pass unit at Matomela.
Municipal technical teams have been notified and are attending to the fault.

The 11kV circuit breaker at Kwamagxaki Substation/Govan Mbeki 2 has tripped. Technical teams are attending to the fault and conducting investigations to identify and rectify the problem.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to inform residents and businesses of a power outage affecting BIAC, Isuzu, DPE Cold Storage, GM SA and other industrial areas within Coega.
A trip has been detected on the 11kV circuit breaker at Port Substation (Z1SS018), resulting in an interruption to the electricity supply.
Operators have been dispatched to investigate the cause of the trip and assess the extent of the fault.

* Isuzu
* DPE Cold Storage
* GM SA
* Other industrial areas within Coega
