Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is championing a safe and enjoyable Tourism Month. With
peace at the forefront of this year's celebrations, various stakeholders collaborated to host a
ground-breaking tourism and peace community engagement session at Raymond Mhlaba in
Motherwell.
Local schools, including Motherwell High, Vulumzi Senior Secondary School, and
Masiphathisane High School, actively participated in the community engagement session, with
a focus on fostering a culture of peace and safety, ensuring a seamless experience for tourists
through rigorous safety and cleanliness in our communities.
During the address, Cllr Shuling Lindoor, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic
Development, Tourism, and Agriculture, emphasised the crucial role of collaboration. "These
community engagement sessions create awareness among various structures," Lindoor
stated. "By comprehending the significance of tourism and safety, the community can work
alongside us to ensure we grow the Tourism economy, create and retain existing jobs in the
Metro.
"
NMBM Tourism Director, Mpho Pebane, highlighted the ongoing efforts. "Our outreach will
extend to additional townships in the Metro, including New Brighton," Pebane explained.
"Engaging with more local communities is essential to promoting tourism and safety."
Metro Police Commissioner, Andrew Moses announced that a robust police intelligence
system is in place to support and secure Tourists. Visitors can explore the rich cultural heritage
of Nelson Mandela Bay's townships while enjoying a safe and memorable experience. "We
